Pollinator Meadow – early summer

The pollinator meadow is thriving in this usually wet spring and early summer. I can’t say if we would have had as much success with seed germination or perennial plant growth without the abundant rain we have received this season. During the two week period May 28-June 7, I observed over 17 butterfly species in the meadow nectaring at plants in both the Phase 1 and Phase 2 areas. Next year, I will learn the bees!

  1. This is awesome! I visit Buncombe Creek Lake Texoma frequently during the summer. My parents have a house across the water to the east of the Biological Station. I should stop by sometime to see the pollinator meadow!
