Autumnal Equinox

Happy Autumnal Equinox!  Today marks the day when the sun is directly over the equator and the northern hemisphere will have less direct sunlight until the spring equinox.  Personally, I am relieved to be tilted away from the sun for the next two seasons.  The growing season is winding down, but we still have lots of ecological activity in central Oklahoma!

I love the golden yellows and vibrant violets of early fall blooms and fruits, the last hurrah for insects, the burst of fungus after a late storm, and the tinge of fall color to the tree leaves.
